Day 1–2 | Stepping into a Sacred Landscape
From New Delhi to Somanth Ji via Rajkot & Veraval
(3–4 January 2026)
A pilgrimage is not measured in kilometres alone. It is measured in intention. On 3 January, we set out from New Delhi, beginning a journey that would take us closer to one of India’s most enduring symbols of faith—Somnath Ji.
Every meaningful journey begins long before the destination appears. Ours started on 3 January, as we left New Delhi with a mix of excitement and quiet devotion. We reached Rajkot by air and chose to stay the night there, allowing ourselves time to rest and mentally prepare for the spiritual days ahead.
Early the next morning, 4 January, we boarded the Vande Bharat Express to Veraval. The journey was comfortable and swift, offering moments to simply look out of the window and absorb the thought that we were moving closer to one of India’s most revered spiritual sites. From Veraval, a cab took us to Hotel Safari and Resort Somnath where we checked in and rested briefly before beginning our exploration.
Later in the day, we set out for local sightseeing around Somnath Mandir, visiting places deeply rooted in history and belief. Bhalka Tirth, associated with the final earthly moments of Lord Krishna, left us reflective and still. At Triveni Sangam, where the sacred waters meet, the atmosphere was calm and deeply meditative. Adding to the beauty of the moment were countless sea gulls circling the shore. Feeding them directly from my hand was a completely new and heartwarming experience, creating an unexpected connection with nature amid the spiritual surroundings.. Visits to Gita Mandir and Baan Ganga added further layers of meaning to the day, reminding us how faith, history, and geography are beautifully intertwined in this region.
As evening approached, we felt the day had gently introduced us to Somnath’s spiritual rhythm, preparing us for the deeper experiences that awaited.
