Somnath Ji: Aarti, Darshan, and the Echo of Timeless Faith
(4 January Evening & 5 January Morning)
The evening of 4 January was devoted to the very heart of Somnath—Somnath Mandir itself. The temple arrangements were systematic and visitor-friendly. Before entering the premises, we stored our backpack in a digital locker, deposited our electronic devices at the mobile locker facility, and placed our footwear at the designated counter.
A temple-appointed photographer captured a few moments for us, leaving us with simple yet meaningful keepsakes. Inside the mandir parisar, we joined the queue for the evening Aarti. As the lamps were lit and rhythmic chants echoed through the space, the atmosphere transformed into one of deep devotion. Standing there, surrounded by collective faith, felt humbling and grounding.
After the Aarti, we chose to attend the laser show. Once the ticket counter reopened, we waited patiently for the show to begin. Narrated in the powerful voice of Amitabh Bachchan, the presentation traced the extraordinary journey of Somnath—its origins, repeated destruction by invaders, and its remarkable reconstruction time and again. The narration was moving and thought-provoking, highlighting the resilience of faith that has endured across centuries.
We concluded the evening by receiving prasad and quietly leaving the temple premises, our hearts full and minds reflective.
The next morning, 5 January (Monday), we returned for a deeply sacred experience at the Swambhu Somnath Jyotirling. The morning began with darshan, followed by Aarti and Prasad. A Pandit ji guided us inside the mandir parisar for the Sankalp, after which we were taken into the Garbhgrah for the Rudrabhishek. Being present so close to the Jyotirling during the ritual was profoundly moving. The chants, the sacred water, and the solemnity of the moment created an intense sense of inner stillness and spiritual fulfillment.
Somnath Ji was not merely a place we visited- it was an experience that spoke of endurance, devotion, and timeless faith, leaving an imprint that will remain long after the journey itself.
With Somnath Ji’s echoes of faith resonating in our hearts, we moved forward- ready for the next sacred milestone of our journey.
